Can’t Escape Immigration Reform During Recess
As we get closer to the mid-term elections, immigration reform supporters are escalating the pressure on members of Congress for reform this year. Yesterday, the Reform Immigration for America Campaign and the New York Immigration Coalition kicked off the caravan, "NY Road Trip for our Future," to advocate for immigration reform.
The 5-day caravan brings together immigrants from all over the state to share their stories with upstate New Yorkers and Congressional representatives, making the case for immigration reform. The caravan will visit Saratoga Springs, Syra, Batavia, Buffalo, Ithaca, and Brooklyn, as members of Congress are back in their districts for recess.
Congressional members in upstate districts who have been quiet on immigration reform will have to let us know if they support real immigration policy solutions or more of the status quo.
