Did you pick your favorite progressive idea?
Change.org--not affiliated with the Obama administration-- is engaging thousands of people across the country by allowing them to vote in a contest of progressive policies. As reported by the National Journal, more than 7,700 policy ideas were submitted and more than 280,000 people voted from Nov. 24 to Dec. 31.
According to Change.org, the top 10 policy ideas will be presented to the Obama Administration at the National Press Club on Jan. 16. But Change.org’s online organizing efforts won’t stop there. Change.org is partnering with MySpace and the Case Foundation to launch a national campaign for each of the top 10 policy ideas.
One of the policy ideas that made it to the final round is the DREAM Act. Not surprisingly, the DREAM Act has gained thousands of votes. As DMI has said before, the DREAM Act would benefit the country--if passed, this legislation would allow students who migrated to the U.S as children to further their education, work, pay taxes and contribute more to our economy and the sustainability of a strong middle class.
The last day to vote is tomorrow Jan. 15.
